Day 12 - Recovery Day

 Day 12 - Recovery Day

Lahinch Beach this morning

Well, today was always going to be a "go-slow" kind of day. I had a lovely dinner at the Atlantic last night, and consoled myself by having an Irish Coffee! That helped me sleep, but I was awoken by some party goers about 2.30am and then I was awake!

I just checked the blog for any comments and found out that no-one has received yesterday's email!!! What drama!!! I realized then that I usually send it to my self and add the group into the Bcc field, so that no-one can see the addresses except your own. But I had forgotten this vital little step and just sent the email to myself. So I had a little jobbie to do in the middle of the night... Hope you all received it eventually!!!!

But then I was awake, and didn't go back to sleep for quite a while. And when I did eventually fall asleep, I slept through until 9am. Then I usually just read my emails and comments, so by the time I was up and showered it was nearly 11am.

I went for my usual walk along the beach, but there was a very fine rain happening this morning.

When I got down further along the Promenade, there were people everywhere - they looked like teenagers in their last few years of school. But there seemed to be hundreds of them..

This is how they got here!!!

But they were in all the cafes and all along the street and in every shop.... I went to my usual coffee haunt, Val's, and she squeezed me in to a corner upstairs.  It's very hard for us locals!!!!

I remembered then that the other AFL footy match was on, so I turned that on, and of course, it got very exciting towards the end, with the big Brisbane comeback. So I had to watch that. I don't care who wins anymore, except I hope it's not Port Adelaide!

When that was over I remembered I hadn't had lunch. So I wandered down the street and was looking for some soup today. The Cornerstone had Potato and Leek and it was delicious.

In the meantime, Marie rang and invited me up for dinner tonight - Boiling Bacon and Cabbage! Yum!! I haven't had that since Newman days.

So I was just debating if it was worth going out somewhere in the car this afternoon, or maybe just staying home. It was raining reasonably steadily  I decided to go over to Ennistymon and get some food.

Th weather was pretty bleak today... the clouds were nearly hitting the ground..

Then it was nearly time to go up to the Shannon's for dinner.

And what a beautiful dinner it was..

The dinner table had a distinctly Aussie flavour to it..

And Daisy the Dog was, of course, a family member..

And then it was the time for the after dinner entertainment.
Patrick was on the accordion and Ellen was on the violin.

Patrick started off with this tune on the accordion.. Sadly the whole video was too big to upload, so I've just cut a sample out..

Then Ellen and Patrick played together

And one more..

So, what a magical way to finish off an evening out. The meal was delicious, the company was warm and welcoming and the music was outstanding.

How lucky I am to be experiencing this wonderful Irish culture.

    1. Yes the music was great. We didn't get to the dancing stage although Daisy did her best... I just don't like teams that beat us and Hinkley had a big mouth off...

  7. Hi, Moira
I spent many a Sunday afternoon at Rosie O’Grady’s in Fremantle. The music from your family brought it all back to me. What a wonderful time you’re having; thanks for including us all in your blog. Lahinch seems to have become the new centre of your universe, just as Bencubbin became mine all those years ago. ❤️๐Ÿ™Greg

  8. Love the beach in the rain, your first shot! I reckon it's good to have all weathers when you're away as each place changes so much depending on the weather. How lovely is that music - certainly something we have lost is entertaining ourselves after dinner. Be safe xx
