Day 19 - Go slows

 Day 19 - Go slows

Tide is out

If the beach looks a bit slow and sluggish, it's just a reflection of me today.  The weather has returned to being overcast and a bit on the chilly side.

Yesterday was a big day out,  including that long walk,  so today I'm just going slowly.... and enjoying life at that pace.

I woke up about 8am and before I knew it the footy was on.  So I had to get moving a bit.  I ate brekky and answered some emails and comments, but the match was getting too interesting,  so I had to give it my full concentration!! So glad Brisbane won.  Geelong have given me too many sad moments for me to barrack for them in any way!!!

By the time the match was over,  it was lunchtime.  So I just felt like some soup and soda bread... Back to the Cornerstone  for their lovely Potato and Leek soup.

Potato and Leek soup.  Yum!

Went for a bit of a walk and its amazing when you're not rushing off to do anything, that you can do a bit of people watching.

Lahinch Promenade is the ideal place for that.
The crowd was all down the beach end,  but it's always much quieter up the top end.

Beach end.. not the best pic!!

But there is always a variety of people and languages floating around in that space.  Today there were disabled people, and lots of people with dogs. There were young people, all trying to catch the eye of the other young people!! There were heaps of older people, often on sticks, just walking and getting the fresh air.

One of the older people who was on a stick and walking his dog was Andy. I wish I had asked him for a picture. He's a gorgeous old man.. I think in his 90s. He often sat next to me in church last year and always had a little chat.  When I spotted him today and said hello,  he remembered  that I had family in Tullygarvan. And then he said Thank you for saying hello to me.

Late addition... I ran into Andy  and his dog Ruby down the beach on the next day... so here is his pic...

So after all that exercise... I came home again and watched a few of the footy shows.  (My $94 subscription  is now looking a lot better!!)

Then of course I hadn't had my coffee. So I went back for another walk along the beach and ended up at Val's  coffee shop... my favourite  haunt!!

And behind the counter today was Siobhan, Val's daughter, who was my travel guide last year and recommended  lots of lovely spots to visit!

Moira and Siobhan

She used to follow my blog last year,  so I've added her in again to this year's version. And she's promised to try and think of some more places that might be good to visit. It was so nice to see her again.

So it's a simple story today, with not much happening.  But it's good just to pause for a while and go slowly.  I have a few friends who are having a few health issues, so I had time to just contact them and see how they are travelling.

But I am very blessed to have this time and space in such a beautiful  place and to just walk out the front door and be a few steps from the beach.

Perhaps this pic of last night's sunset might just top this all off...

Sunset at Lahinch Beach last night.

  1. Even though it was a slow day you still managed to make it interesting. Would be lovely to walk out of your house and walk straight onto the beach. That sunset is just glorious. Col

    2. A magic sunset Moira! Go slow days are good now and again aren’t they. Today when I was gardening I was also marvelling at the gift of creatio. Enjoy the coming week, Annette.

  4. Wow Moira that sunset pic is superb. That’s one for your wall. What a ripper of a game between Cats & Lions. It was an early morning game for us here too. Then we cycled to a local market and filled up the saddle bags with fresh fruit & veg. After that we had to cool down with a Belgian beer & we enjoyed some people watching too!! Katie
