Day 5 - AM - Family reunion

Day 5 - AM - Family reunion

 Moira and Marie

It was lovely at last to catch up with my family again. In case you were not aware of the connection, Marie was a Curtin. Her great grand father and my great grandfather were brothers. And the farm they migrated from is still in the Curtin family, run by Marie's brother Sean, and her Mum Nora who still lives there.
(And yes they spell their name "Curtin". Somehow my great grandfather gained an "a" when he arrived in Australia to become a Curtain!)

This morning was only a quick visit, as Patrick had a soccer match to be played!!  But first there was time to distribute the gifts from Australia, including the Tin Tams!

Since I was here, last year in May, Patrick has become quite famous. He was the "face" for the Eir advertisement right across Ireland...  (Eir is the Irish equivalent of Telstra).
Here's a few pics of his face in Dublin!!!

One more - the actual ad.... Click play to view it! Even if it says it is unavailable, you can click on the "Watch on Youtube" words and it should work!

Both Ellen and himself have grown up so much in the last 18 months. It's a pleasure to see them develop into such lovely people. I'm looking forward to their musical recitals later too..

Anyway, back to the Soccer match. It was a semi final for the Ennistymon lads, and they won 4 -0. Hopefully they get to play in the grand final next week.

Ellen's GAA team also won the minor premiership earlier this year...

What a sporting family! Well done to you  both!.

While I was at the soccer, I felt the need for a coffee, as you do, so I wandered across the road to the Lahinch Golf Club . They have a lovely dining room set up there, with splendid views in all directions. Great place for a coffee....

So that was my busy morning. I reverted back to tourist mode in the afternoon, but I think I'll make a new post for that.

  2. That YouTube clip was lovely. Wow, Patrick & Ellen certainly have shot up. It’s interesting with the Curtin/Curtain spelling, on my mother’s side her ancestors went from McAegan/McEgan to Egan. Someone once said it depended on how good the father’s spelling was when he registered the birth or how drunk 🤣🤣
