Day 25 Part 1- Meeting Madeleine Lynch at Bunratty

Day 25  Part 1 - Meeting Madeleine Lynch at Bunratty

Bunratty Castle

The sun was out this morning when I got up, so that was a big improvement on yesterday..

The beach looked beautiful this morning...

But there was no time for mucking around as I had arranged to meet Madeleine Lynch at The Creamery next to Bunratty Castle.  It was an easy drive with some of it being on the double lanes on the  M18

The Creamery is a lovely Irish pub - warm and inviting, as most Irish pubs are. It was Madeleine's suggestion to meet there, and it was a good one.

The Creamery at Bunratty

The building went through various stages of being a stage coach resting point and also it really was a creamery in days gone by!

We had some fabulous conversation, where I found out quite a bit about her side of the family. Her mother was Eileen Lynch (nee Curtin), who was a sister to Marie's Dad Patrick (husband of Nora). So she is the same relationship to me as Marie - I don't know all this twice removed stuff.... I just know which line they are on in the Ancestry family tree.
Madeleine was a bit reluctant to have her picture taken, but here's the best we could do..

After lunch we went for  a walk around the perimeter of Bunratty Castle and we got chatting to another Australian couple from Brisbane. She was also a Moira. I don't even know the bloke's name, but he was surrounded by two Moiras!!! Lucky bugger!!!

Then it was time to say goodbye to Madeleine, as I was going to go and have a look at Bunratty Castle again - I've already done it a couple of times, but I thought I might take some pics for the blog! The things I do for my readers!!!! She promised to send through some family pics, and by the time I'd finished the Castle and was having a coffee, she had already followed through on that promise!!!

I'll just put a couple up here, and I'll include the rest on my Ancestry site.
(BTW if anyone would like access to view my Ancestry site, just let me know and I'll add you in!)

That's just a taster....

I was so pleased to meet Madeleine and continue to explore a different branch of my family. I can't believe that the stars aligned on that wet, cold day in Kilrush, so that I was able to be connected to this part of my family. Must have been meant to be!!!

I think I'll make a separate  post about the touristy part of Bunratty Castle.

  4. So lovely to fill more spots in your family tree. It was terrific of Madeleine to send the photos too - they make it all the more real somehow. I'd love a peek at your family too x
